bartaco has been one of my favorites restaurants since I could remember, the food, ambiance and innovative drink menu have always kept me coming back for more.
I was approached a few weeks ago to partake in bartaco's #bartacosecret campaign around their latest secret taco launch, the Crispy Lobster Taco. Now, when one of my favorite restaurants approaches me to review and promote one of my favorite foods, I am 100% down.
Last night my fiancé Bobby and I went to bartaco's Westport, CT location to be wined and dined. I am telling you, the experience did not disappoint. From the staff to the lobster to the sunset - ever thing was amazing!
Keep reading below to learn what else we ordered and what we truly thought of the Crispy Lobster Taco. x
bartaco is inspired by the beach culture of brazil, uruguay and southern california. we are upscale street food with a coastal vibe in a relaxed environment. we are freshly-squeezed juices, specialty cocktails and beer out of a bottle. bartaco evokes a visit to a stylish beach resort and creates an unforgettable experience.
WHAT WE ORDERED
We started with their Chips + Guac - hand-mashed avocado, lime juice, serrano chiles, onions and cilantro ($6/$9).
This was a no-brainer. Who doesn't start with chips and guac? The guac is always fresh-made and flavorful. We love these disc corn chips too - they have just the right amount of salt and crunch.
TIP: Breaking off small pieces at a time let us pace ourselves and not spoil our main course.
We also ordered the Tuna Poke - raw tuna, green + white onions, poke dressing, avocado, sesame seeds, and fried ginger ($8.50).
Ordering tuna poke is a given with us. No matter where we go out to eat, we always order this as one of our appetizers. So, I guess you can say I/we are tuna poke aficionados. With that being said, rest assured that this is one of our favorite poke dishes. I literally dream of this wonderful concoction.
Crispy Lobster Taco - creamy chipotle lobster and corn salad, served on a crispy blue corn taco, with a base of guacamole, garnished with cilantro + onion, and dressed with a citrus sherry vinaigrette.
Move over lobster roll, the Crispy Lobster Taco is making moves and is here to stay! This taco is next-level Summer deliciousness. If I could eat these daily, I would. The flavor pairings are spot on. This taco is light and fresh, never heavy.
In addition to the Crispy Lobster Taco, Bobby and I also shared the Carne Asada - tamari-citrus steak with aguacate salsa ($3.50 each) and the Baja Fish - spicy tempura-battered cod with chipolte slaw ($2.50 each).
The Carne Asada was cooked to perfection and left Bobby wanting more. The Baja was a crowd-pleaser - the crisp, flaky tempura and juicy fish were both satisfying and mouthwatering. These have been go-to tacos for years with us.
The drink pictured is their Seasonal Caipirinha - vaguara chacha, limes + fresh pomegranate.
We also ordered (not pictured) the Paloma Fresca - ibélula joven, grapefruit, lime, peychaud's bitters, grapefruit bitters and sparkling water. I am not a tequila fan, so I ordered mine with vodka - and let me just say *new favorite drink*! It was light and refreshing. I couldn't taste the alcohol, but I could sure feel it. My kind of drink.
All in all we had a wonderful time and would not only recommend the Cripsy Lobster taco, but bartaco in general.
