Spring cleaning is for more than just my closet! Last week I had my first HydraFacial at SOCO Dermatology - and I have to say, I'm hooked! Many of you may be curious as to the difference between a HydraFacial and microdermabrasion, or any other facial for that matter. Well, I am hear to 1) clear that up for you (pun intended), and 2) let you know how my experience went and if I would do it again.
Only HydraFacial uses patented technology to cleanse, extract, and hydrate. HydraFacial super serums are made with nourishing ingredients that create an instantly gratifying glow.

SOCO'S PROCESS
Upon my arrival I was greeted by my technician, Sandra, an RN and Board Certified Medical Aesthetician.
I was promptly brought back into the treatment room and told what to expect during and post-facial. Sandra let me know I would see bright, clear, hydrated, toned and overall younger looking skin.
STEP 1 - CLEANSE
The first step is to cleanse the skin of any impurities. This gives the technician a clean slate. The manual cleanse also conditions and stimulates skin prior to the procedure. This is followed by a physical exfoliation with lactic acid and glucosamine HCI with anti-oxidant-rich algae.
STEP 2 - EXFOLIATE
The next step is a deep exfoliation with glycolic acid combined with salicylic acid. This duo helps to resurface skin sans irritation associated with other peels.
STEP 3 - EXTRACT
For this step, the technician uses a vortex-extraction nozzle that acts as a vacuum to remove blackheads and sebum in open pores while simultaneously soothing skin.
If you are like me and are oddly satisfied by pore strips, this gives you a similar gratification. The tip of the vortex-extraction nozzle is clear, allowing you to visibly see the buildup that was removed from your pores.
STEP 4 - INFUSE
This step uses the vortex-fusion tool to detoxify, revitalize, and protect with powerful, antioxidant serums.
The HydraFacial can be tailored to meet the needs of any skin type.
MY THOUGHTS
The entire process was calming and quick. There is little to no downtime post treatment. You can expect to have slight redness, but you will also see clearer more hydrated skin, instantly. For me, the redness went away after about an hour. That night I went out and received plenty of compliments on my new glowing complexion.
Have acne prone skin? Sensitive skin? Don't fret! I have both acne prone and sensitive skin and this procedure did not break me out or give me long-term irritation in any way, as other facials have in the past. It actually helped to eliminate blackheads on my nose, minimize pores and add a supple bounce to my skin.
While I find the price point on this facial a little steep for my liking, I do think it is worth it to prep for a special occasion or if you are suffering from a major skin condition that this treatment can drastically alleviate or correct.
